I assume you are here to determine if I can help you with your health issues. Likely, I can. I’d say there is greater than an 80% chance I can bring some relief to whatever issues are plaguing you.
I have a special interest in hard-to-treat cases related to chronic inflammation, pain, digestive disorders, gynecology and fertility issues, and men’s health. In addition, my significant life and clinical experiences assist me in navigating confusing presentations.
My CV is here.
I bring inquisitive dedication to both men’s and women’s health to my acupuncture, herbal, and nutrition practice. I am licensed by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine as a Licensed Acupuncturist and by the Massachusetts Board of Dietitians and Nutritionists as a Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist. I also became a Fellow of the American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine in 2013, demonstrating advanced proficiency in women’s and men’s reproductive health.
I paid my cover charge, called a master’s degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, at the New England School of Acupuncture (NESA)where I graduated in 2006. Paying this cover charge entitles me to practice Chinese Medicine and continually improve my skills with each passing year. I also received a master’s degree in Human Nutrition from the University of New Haven in 2004 after studying various nutrition programs beginning in 1992. Currently, I am in a Doctoral program at YoSan University.
In 2008/9 I received advanced training in the delayed peripheral immunological response to food antigens, known as food hypersensitivities. It gave me an understanding of how our immune systems can get dysfunctional and cause a loss in oral tolerance to foods. (Our complex immune system is so fascinating!). In 2010, I completed the Certified LEAP Therapist training with Oxford Labs, which offers the best food hypersensitivity test out there, in my opinion. (but it is how one uses the results that matter).
I am also an adjunct faculty member at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences New England School of Acupuncture, where I have been teaching Western Nutrition since 2007. I also taught Traditional Chinese Medicine Etiology and Pathology of Women’s and Men’s Health when NESA was in Newton, MA.
I came into Chinese Medicine from a background in Functional Medicine, studying alongside many of the practitioners who are today’s Functional Medicine teachers. However, I have shifted my practice onto a more profound tradition of Classical Chinese Medicine as it offers more profound healing, and its teachings are true to my heart. Classical Chinese Medicine also presents a more natural way of thinking about life than what is taught in the vast majority of Chinese Medicine Schools. The ancient texts contain the Life code for living in harmony, as we are a circular part of nature, not separate from it.
My introduction to the Classics was inspired by my continuous study with Sharon Weizenbaum at White Pine Institute. Sharon provides enough study material for every day of the year and then some. This has opened up numerous doors to other great teachers and practitioners. For example, it inspired me to undertake a year-long study of the Huang Di Nei Jing with Dr Ed Neal, MD. Dr Neal likens Chinese Medicine to the wise old sage and Western medicine to the young adolescent, thinking it knows everything and ignoring what elders say. Too often, Western Medicine discards the past as antiquated. Chinese Medicine looks to the past in order to understand the future,
Studying Classical Chinese Medicine is my journey of finding a layer, and then below that is another layer, all in a circular fashion. It is a never-ending discovery of brilliant observations. If the correct input to the body is given, people can restore physiological function and get off many medications. It is determining and offering the correct input that separates practitioners. I take great satisfaction in using this brilliant medicine to help patients tap into their healing capacity thus avoiding medications or invasive interventions. I expect to practice this amazing medicine until I no longer have the physical capacity because I will become a more skilled practitioner with each passing year. Please contact me with any questions.
